2 Days – Angkor Wat, Taprohm, Bayon, Floating Village Tour and the National Museum
Overview
Day 1
On the first day of this tour, you’ll see the best that the Angkor Archaeological Park has to offer. We’ll start the tour with a visit to Angkor Wat, the reason why most people come to visit Siem Reap. Angkor Wat attracts over 2 million visitors per year and is the largest temple built during the Khmer empire.
After lunch break at a local village called Sras Srang, means the Royal Bath, you’ll visit the famous Ta Prohm temple which is commonly known as the Tomb Raider temple. This ancient temple which was once home to many thousands of monks, scholars, and servants, was used as a backdrop in the Lara Croft movie, Tomb Raider. This unique temple is a popular one among visitors because it has largely been left to the elements and the jungle is growing right through the middle of Ta Prohm!
Finally, we will visit the majestic Bayon temple. This temple has remnants of Hindu inscriptions as well as both Mahayana and Theravada Buddhist inscriptions. It’s a fascinating temple and usually a favorite of most visitors. We’ll spend a few hours exploring all the nooks and crannies of this amazing temple.
Day 2
We will also visit one of the Chong Khneas floating villages which sit on top of the Tonle Sap lake. These villagers live their daily lives on the water. Kids go to school, parents go to work, markets are bustling, and this all takes place on floating structures that sit on top of the water!
After lunch, you may enjoy relaxing at the hotel swimming pool or go shopping at local markets.
In the late afternoon, we will visit the National Museum.
